June 19 the Collegium Hall of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency hosted the award giving ceremony of the Miss Atom-2007 beauty contest. The 4th international Internet-based
Miss Atom-2007 beauty contest was organized by Nuclear.Ru and held this February-March with results summed up on the eve of the International Women’s Day of March 8. This contest continued the tradition and made a record as to the number of participants to list 299 girls representing 67 enterprises, agencies, and educational institutions of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
The contest was held in two stages. At the first stage girls placed their questionnaires and pictures on the
Miss Atom-2007 website and two subsequent weeks were the on-line voting process. This year, the contest site was made available for English-speaking readers. “The contest was an international in terms of contestants before and now this status has strengthened ever more,” Nuclear.Ru project manager Ilya Platonov noted. “But the main thing is that we are certain that so broad response is favorable for nuclear image as a hole.” The contest results were announced after a special commission had summed up the results judging by number of points each contestant gained.
The first place was given to Yelena Kamenskaya (Eleron science and production association) with the second and third went to Anastasia Pletneva (Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant) and Tatiana Rodnykh (cable TV channel supporting Kursk nuclear power plant, Kurchatov). In addition, nine contestants of Miss Atom-2007 got special prizes from nuclear industry companies and agencies. Also, the contest administration gave several promo prizes to some of girls. The award ceremony was attended by top managers and representatives of Rosatom, Rosenergoatom, TVEL, Tekhsnabexport, Atomstroyexport.
When handing over an award diploma and greeting the winners, Dzhumbery Tkebuchava, the Rosenergoatom’s deputy director general, said: “When you look at these girls you understand that out industry is famous not only for scientists but also for such belles. All what we, men, do is being done for this beauty. Our girls are not just belles, they are nuclear professionals. Be well and happy!” Rosenergoatom was the general sponsor of the
Miss Atom-2007 beauty contest. Other sponsors included Atompromresursy and Atomexpo. The award ceremony was held with a support of the Holland-based Keune and Amsterdam image beauty shops chain.
